The Fowler Theater is an Art-Deco style theater built in 1940 and opened in March of that year and has been a huge part of the community since! It once held over 440 patrons but now holds roughly two-hundred.
In 1968, the manager at the time committed suicide, but it isn't known if he killed himself at the theater or elsewhere. In the early 1990s, the theater went into disrepair and eventually closed in 2001. Soon after, the Prairie Preservation Group decided to restore, renew, and reopen the old landmark, winning the 2016 Cook Cup Award for Outstanding Restoration.
Once restoration started, odd things started happening to those working and visiting the building. It is now the 8th most haunted building in Indiana and one of the top 10 haunted theaters in the Midwest!

Built just three years after the town of Fowler was established, the jail was opened and remained open from 1876 until 1997. During the 121 years it was open, only three prisoners escaped
As with any old jail, the sheriff's residence was in this building along with the jail. There are 12 cells on the first floor where the men were housed with the women being on the second floor and if there weren't women occupying the cells, juveniles would housed there. In the basement, also known as "the dungeon", there are eight cells where inmates were chained to the wall until they confessed or went insane; padded cells were used for mentally ill patients and violent drunks.
The most infamous inmate was Jacob Nelling. He was accused of murdering a 15-yeard old girl in 1883 by strangulation and stabbing with a pocket knife. The citizens of Fowler broke into the jail, dragged him out and lynched him about 200 yards from the family home. It's said he still haunts the jail to this day!
This is one of the newer locations open to the public so there are still unknown activity to be document
