Randolph County Asylum (RCA) has been know by other names over the history of its existence -- Randolph County Poor House/Home/Farm, the County Home, and
Countryside Care Center
- 1851 -- the tract of land was purchase by the county for a poor farm for those unable to work, including those with mental and physical disabilities, single mothers, the elderly, and orphans. At this time, there were 13 "inmates"
- 1853 -- a new building was constructed and house 16 "inmates"
- 1854 -- the new building was destroyed by a fire
- 1855 - 1856 -- a new two-story building was constructed, but eventually that was ordered demolished due to poor living conditions
- 1898 - 1899 -- the 50,000 square foot building you see today was built housing six large wards, private rooms, laundry, kitchen, separate dining rooms for men and women, a room with a jail cell, and a cellar. The property also included a pump house, barn, hay barn, machine shed, garage or cell house, two garages, and a chicken house. There is also a cemetery located on the property.
- 1994 -- new owners purchased the property and it came to be known as Countryside Care Center, housing 12 residents
- 2008 - 2009 -- the nursing facility closed and became the county's storage facility
- 2016 -- Dann Allen purchased the facility to revitalize and opened it as a paranormal location for investigators
- Graves -- there at least 50 unmarked graves reportedly located on the property
